Our billing system will work with any printer
that Windows supports. As a general rule, we do not recommend inkjet
printers for your utility billing office. Since they are designed
for low-volume home use, they are usually not very durable for
high-quantity printing (except for in very small districts). For report
printing you can use any printer and our system allows you to select a
different printer for report and bills. However, if you wish to print post
card bills, then you will need a printer that can handle the card stock
weight, special margins and wear-and-tear that bill card printing requires. See our bill
cards printer section for more information.
Because prices are dropping on the Lexmark laser printers, now is a
good time to consider laser bill cards if you’d like better looking
bills that print faster and quieter.
The current Lexmark printer we recommend is shown below.
Our systems have a standardized bill card
for dot-matrix printers and Lexmark laser printers included in the
standard billing package. Another option that will work with most
printers is paper full-page statements. To get more information on the
full-page statement add-on or to avoid incurring unexpected costs, please
call us before switching bill cards or purchasing your printer.
